INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., December 4, 2018 — BioCrossroads announced today that the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation has made a grant of $1.48 million to the organization to continue to advance the strength and opportunities of several collaborative and educational initiatives within Indiana’s life sciences and healthcare sectors. The Fairbanks Foundation is an Indianapolis-based, independent private foundation focused on the education, health and the vitality of the Indianapolis community.
“The life sciences industry is a major driver of Indiana’s economy and a key contributing factor to the vitality of Indianapolis,” said Claire Fiddian-Green, president and CEO of the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation. “The Foundation is pleased to support the work of BioCrossroads and its strategic efforts to advance Indiana’s life sciences sector.”
The two-year grant enables BioCrossroads to continue to serve as a catalyst for collaborative efforts that support the improvement of human health through innovation and data analytics, including through BioCrossroads’ work with key stakeholder-driven collaborations such as the Indiana Health Information Exchange, the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, and the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute. In addition, the grant covers activities related to talent, including work with 16 Tech and STEM-related initiatives.
“The Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation has been a key stakeholder for our life sciences and healthcare community since the early days of BioCrossroads. We are grateful for the Fairbanks Foundation’s continued support through this critically important new grant. It will advance the work of BioCrossroads in addressing exciting opportunities for sector growth, the rising impact of disruptive technologies on both industry and academic research and development, and challenging population health issues that limit our potential for achieving genuine wellness and inclusive prosperity for our region,” said David L. Johnson, President and CEO of BioCrossroads.
