Diagnotes enables mobile capability of electronic health records

Indianapolis, May 6, 2013 –  BioCrossroads Indiana Seed Fund II has made an  investment in Diagnotes, an Indianapolis-based health IT company focusing on bringing a comprehensive communications system to on-call healthcare providers through a mobile application. The Indiana Seed Fund II is an $8.25 million early-stage fund focused on identifying, creating and developing the next generation of leading Indiana-based life sciences companies.

“The investment in this technology further drives the meaningful use of electronic health information by providing critical patient information when it’s needed to an increasingly mobile care provider,” said David L. Johnson, President and CEO of BioCrossroads.  “Diagnotes and its technology further establish Indiana as a hotbed of HIT innovation and application. This promising company is a local bright star in our growing and important sector of life sciences.”

Diagnotes mobile clinical communication system, the first of its kind, automates and streamlines the workflow of on-call providers by delivering secure patient information straight to a clinician’s smartphone. The technology enables immediate documentation of patient encounters and provider follow up furthering meaningful use of patient data.

“There is a growing need to incorporate technologies that securely facilitate the transfer of vital healthcare information to clinicians,” said David Wortman, Chairman and CEO of Diagnotes. “We believe our technology can improve the quality of patient care at a lower cost by providing meaningful and timely data to those who need it to make informed clinical decisions anywhere.”

The Diagnotes system was developed in close collaboration with healthcare providers and hospital administrators, and has been piloted in several Indiana-based hospitals and physician group practices.
